Does anyone still read this?    I guess it's worth a shot...

I'm looking for pictures of Michael.  If you have any that you'd can share, can you send me them to me?  Unfortunately, I've managed to misplace the original files that I once had.  They're somewhere, I just don't know where they are.  They've gotten lost in the shuffle when I moved.

Life has brought me out to San Francisco, so if you're ever in town, definitely let me know. It would be great to see a few familiar faces in this unfamiliar city!

Hope all of you are doing well!

We will always miss you, Michael...

Much love,

It's another year, another entry.  You've missed a lot in the past 2 years since you left us.  Truimphs, milestones, heartbreak, laughter, tears... so much has happened.  But it's so comforting to know that you are always watching over us from the great expanse above in pure contentment and utter peace.

I thought that I could write for pages and pages, but I realize that I only want to tell you this :

We love you and miss you, Michael!  We'll see you soon.

Today is your 23rd birthday.  If you were still here, you'd probably have a trip planned to go to Atlantic City for the weekend with Clint, Dave, Mike P. and the rest of your crew.  You would drive everyone there, expect Dave to foot the bill for dinner, watch Clint load up on free drinks at the Blackjack table, encourage Mike P. to do some ridiculous dare to a poor cocktail waitress, and the rest would be left to the imagination.  On the way home, you guys would stop in Philly to get cheesesteaks and spend the night at Dave's apartment.  The next day, you would drive everyone else home and tell the family about how much money you won at the tables that night and ask them if they needed anything.  Of course we would say no and tell you to save it ... but instead you would buy dad a new pair of running shoes, cosmetics for mom and probably a fancy new mp3 player for me.  You'd make a new resolution to cut out some bad habits out of your life, but it would only last for about a month before you go back to your original ways.  You would go help out at dad's store and bring him lunch to eat.  You would chase away all of those bad kids who would attempt to steal and call you "Bruce Lee".  We all miss your generosity, wit, charm and laid-back attitude.  I think everyone would also agree that we also miss your stubbornness and temper as well.  Hope you are having a great 23rd birthday!  I will also be celebrating with you tonight with some hot wings and beer in your honor.  Happy 23rd Birthday, Michael....

Have you ever stopped to think about how much can happen in 1 year? Or how quickly a simple life can be changed in a matter of a second? These are the things that have been looming over me for the past few days.... It is only fitting that I have been so busy for the past few weeks that I haven't been able to dwell on emotions or wallow in misery. But I continue to think to myself, "Is it fair that despite the fact that one person's life can come to such a quick end, everyone else moves on and continues to live their lives? Is it fair that I complain about trivial matters such as feeling hungry or tired?" Are there any answers to these questions?

I was on the subway on Sunday when I saw this little asian boy with his mom. He reminded me of you as a kid - small eyes, round face, bowl haircut. I started tearing up a bit when I heard him talking to his mom about how excited he was to go to the Red Sox game. It made me think of those times when we were kids and you would hog up the TV because you wanted to watch baseball games. I got off the train and walked up the street when I saw this other high school aged asian kid hanging out with his friend. They all had "thuggish" qualities, wearing baggy jeans and over-sized t-shirts while smoking and making a lot of noise. Yet another moment when I had to blink away some tears.  Even though you are not here physically, I am constantly reminded that you are watching over me.  You probably laugh as you are picking out your cast of reminder characters, but it still is great to witness it.  Keep it coming....

It's been exactly 1 year..... I think most of us would agree that it's been a hard and long year, but the days get easier as time goes on. There will always be that piece of my heart that is missing, but I look forward to the day when it will be patched up once again.

We miss you, Michael.  Rest in Peace...

For all of you with those inquiring minds (*cough* CLINT *cough*), the pictures were taken in Korea.... somewhere up in the mountains, near Sangju, S. Korea, about 3 hours south of Seoul.  It's about a 15 minute walk from my grandparent's house.  Mike probably told you stories of this place... yup, the very same place with no plumbing, no bathroom or hot water.  Who would have thought that a ghetto-fab, gangsta wanna-be would end up in the boonies?... the world is full of contradictions sometimes....

Miss you, Mike.....
